About The Saturday Morning Market
A Brief History
The Roots of The Saturday Morning Market
Established in November 2002 by our passionate founders – Judy Staunko, Theresa Ellis, Celeste Simon, Heidi Lovett, Rand, Dennis D’Ettore, and Gail Eggeman, the market has been running every Saturday from October to May, 9 am to 2 pm.
What You'll Find At The Market
Local Organic Farmers
“We support local, organic, naturally grown, and regenerative Farmers. Each week the Market offers sustainably grown, nutritious vegetables and fruits as well as humanly raised meat, eggs and honey.”
Come Hungry Leave Happy
In terms of “ready-to-eat” food options, the Saturday Morning Market stands out as a unique destination. We offer a more extensive selection of styles than any other market in the US. For example, we feature a range of cuisine types, including Greek, Italian, French, Belgian, German, Polish, British, Cuban, Mexican, Ecuadoran, Colombian, Thai, Ethiopian, Cajun, Vegetarian, Vegan and more. Whatever your taste preferences may be, you are sure to find something delicious at our Market.
Diverse Artisan Foods
We have a great variety of artisan food vendors, all of whom are local makers. When you support them, you’re not contributing to their private jet, but rather ensuring that their kids can play sports and take dance lessons. Our vendors offer an assortment of handmade and locally produced goods such as fresh seafood, baked goods, pastries, jams, chocolates, cheeses, salsas, chutneys, sauces, imported truffles, pickles, popsicles, spices, jerky, and more.
Hand Selected Makers
“We have a wide variety of juried craft vendors including, jewelry, woodcraft, glass art, upcycled items, and many unique, vibrant pieces created with Florida flare.”
Vibrant Live Music
We have live music every Saturday during the winter season. Check out our upcoming events calendar.
“We offer booth space, free of charge to our fellow community non-profit organizations to promote awareness and education about their organizations and services.
Health & Sustainability
The Saturday Morning Market is committed to promoting the consumption of nutrient-dense local foods and positive environmental practices in a range of ways. One of the primary means through which we advance this goal is by supporting SNAP with high-quality food and produce, creating a range of benefits for our customers. In addition, we also participate in Feeding Florida’s Fresh Access Bucks initiative, matching your SNAP dollars with funds for locally grown produce.
Another way in which we advance the consumption of nutrient-dense local foods practices is by offering a food demonstration cart that local chefs can use to showcase healthy recipes featuring Market produce grown right here near St. Petersburg, FL. By providing these resources and support systems, we aim to encourage healthy habits and environmental stewardship within our community.
